Dress up?

Cool Lincoln in Josie's sunglasses
Josie's pretty princess crown

Josie has discovered a new doll at our house! Lincoln. Fortunately he is a very good sport and puts up very little fuss.

Another Snow day!

Digging for the lost sled

Last Thursday we had another snow day! We got about a foot of snow overnight so the roads were a mess the next morning. Of course this is Spokane snow removal we are talking about so even if we got 3 inches the roads would still be a mess. Spokane has no concept of snow removal. Unfortunately the kids didn't spend all that much time out enjoying the snow because it was bitterly cold. We are talking 3 degrees and -14 at night. The only good thing that came out of the bone chilling cold is that I refused to let Josie out in a sweatshirt and sweatpants so she cried and cried and finally put on the coat and snow pants. Low and behold she survived and even enjoyed herself. This is the first time this year she has put on a coat. Honestly...I sometimes want to throw her out the door naked. Please tell me this will pass. Conor surprised me and offered to take Josie over to play with him and the neighbor kids. Josie was in heaven, he pushed her to and from on the sled.

Lincoln 4 month pictures

Here are a few Lincoln stats at 4 months.
Weight 15.6 oz (52%)
Length 25 1/4 (54%)
Head 16 1/2 (33%)
Dr. Lee was very happy with how well Lincoln is following the bell curve on his growth and gave him a clean bill of health. He has a monster soft spot still, but nothing to worry about and he took his shots like a pro, one little cry is all. He continues to be my little angel baby. I honestly don't know how I ended up with such a great kid. Still hates to lay on his tummy, but can roll over from tummy to back if he is trying to see the action better. Starting to notice his hands a lot more and is very close to grabbing at things. He loves to knaw on his little hands and has started drooling a ton. No teeth yet. Very generous with his smiles and loves it when you talk to him. He is super tickilish and will bust up laughing if you rub his chest or feet.

Ski date

Grandma Kellogg came up to watch the kids so Kevin and I could go skiing. A great ski day it was! 49 degrees North offers a 2 for Tuesday deal so we try to get up there if Kevin has a comp day. It snowed the entire time we were there and they had 9" at the summit the night before. The snow was great! It was certainly a fun challenge to plow through all that heavy powder and our legs were super tired at the end of they day. A good tired for sure.

Piano Lessons

Conor playing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star

A few months back when Janet came to visit she taught Conor to play Peter Peter Pumpkin Eater-ever since then he has been wanting to "really" learn to play. I finally got my act together and Christmas over with and we have started some lessons. I can tell that he really really wants to learn because of how patient he is being. When he get's frustrated because I make him do something again he doesn't walk away, he keeps plugging along. We have had our share of angry moments and I know there will be many more, but for now he wants it bad enough to get through it. I honestly wasn't sure how long the excitement of it would keep him going but we are almost through his 1st set of books and he is looking forward to the next.

Haircut or...Abuse?

For months I have been threatening Josie that we are going to cut her hair. I guess that would be why she was terrified, she associated it with something bad. Well, after the umpteenth argument and the bazillionth tear over doing hair, today was the day. I tried to talk her into letting me take her to supercuts for some nice, (not angry), trained professional to get rid of it, but she wasn't having it. I decided to save myself the public embarassment of dragging a screaming child through the door by her too long hair. I figured if it didn't turn out I could pay someone to fix it. So here goes! Please note that Josie cried the entire time and was fondly holding her "broken" hair when we were finished. The only condolence to her was that it would grow back. She has since told anyone that comments on her hair today that it is OK because it will grow back. I laugh now because she really did have reason to cry since I had no idea what I was doing.

Final result

She survived! It really doesn't look all that bad for an amateur. Kevin wanted me to cut it shorter, but I didn't dare. She has a lot of natural wave that makes it very difficult for me to get it nice and even. This will do for now. I was amazed at how much thicker her hair felt once all those straggly ends were gone. I hope this will solve a lot of yogurt/milk/syrup/ice cream, you name it hair covered ends.

Brothers

We were wrapping up our evening and finishing up our various duties for the day and I turned around to see this, it warmed my heart. I hope that Conor and Lincoln can be good friends, and I know Lincoln will always look up to his big brother.
