Kauai Day 3

Day 3 brought an early start for us. We got up extra early to head down to the Wailua river to rent some kayaks. The guide books told us to get their around 7:00 am to get a jump on head winds and to assure we got a kayak. Well we didn't research this well enough and the books were slightly mistaken. Try 9:00 for kayak rental. We totally lucked out though and a couple had set up a guided tour with a kayak company to depart at 7:00. We were able to jump in with their tour and it ended up working out great. 7:00am on the river was beautiful, the sun was just coming up, roosters were crowing and it was really peaceful and calm. Our destination was Secret Falls.

This was an awesome area on the hike up to Secret Falls they call the green room. It was a clearing encircled by this amazing ivy. It actually looked like green buildings.

We were crazy enough to swim in the pool and under the falls. It was cold but worth it.

After the kayaking adventure we tried to do some snorkeling, but really didn't see much. Because of the high surf, it wasn't really a good time of year to snorkel. In fact the places that are suppose to have the best showing for snorkeling were actually closed because of the crazy surf.
Back to the pool and lounging at our beach.
