Time to go home...bummer

After a week filled with fun and adventure and Witt fun, we have to go home. BOO HOO. The only good thing about going home is the plane ride, so the kids say. To get to our plane on time we had to get up at some unearthly hour. Really! I think Spokane time made it like 1 am. By the time we pulled into our driveway we were exhausted. Time to recover from our vacation. So many fun memories were made. Thank you Janet, Galen, Katy, Mackenzie, Megan and Jessica for sharing your home and week with us. We had such a wonderful, spectacular, happy time.

Chicago in a day

We packed in the fun today! So much to see, so little time and so far to walk!!!!! We rocked this day and I have A LOT of pictures to document our movement. I have to send a shout out to Lincoln and Megan today, they have the shortest legs and were the best walkers in the bunch! We figured we walked at least 7 miles in all, and Lincoln walked almost every step. For a 3 yr old that is a pretty big accomplishment.  We started out at Millennium Park, then we walked over to "the bean," then we went on over to the spitting face fountains.  I think they are really called Crown fountains.  Then we hiked over to Buckingham fountain.  Next stop...picnic in the park, lucky enough to enjoy the orchestra that was practicing.  Back to the pavement, we walked over to Navy Pier next, took a small detour, but made it.  We rode the ferris wheel, (or steering wheel as Lincoln called it,) then we got on a water taxi and went to the Sears/Willis tower and took the elevator to the top.  We finally made it back to the cars and our brave drivers (Janet and Galen,) battled traffic all the way to Giordono's pizza.  We got it to go, so we could kick our tired feet up and rest.  SO SO DELICIOUS!!!   What a super fun day, note to self for next time.   I want to get a bike and ride around the city, or a segway, oh and a free skip the lines pass.  I guess I just need to call Donald Trump and ask him to let me borrow his limo and driver.

A Recharge Day

Today we got to relax and just be together. We started out the day pretending to play golf. My side hurt from laughing so hard at my lame attempts at golf. We lost more balls in the water then I should admit, we made the golfers behind us mad....not my finest moment, and by the last hole I had improved a bit. When I say we, I am saying mostly me and Janet.   Love you so much Janet!  Wish we could go golfing together everyday.
After some golfing we went out to Lake Michigan, this I had never seen.  If I didn't know better I would have said we were at the ocean, it was beautiful, and great fun to wiggle my toes in the sand.
I had to include a picture of the "cool" car.  We caravanned with these cool guys all over and they were so entertaining, they even did some synchronized hand motions for us, a great memory to draw on when I am feeling blue.  Then home again home again to BBQ and cook up some s'mores.

Wisconsin State Fair and a Brewers game.

And we are on the go again! Today we are headed north of the Illinois border, right on into Milwaukee. Home of the Wisconsin state fair, and the Brewers. Janet and Galen have been the absolute best chauffeurs ever!!! We have been in the car a lot and they will be glad when we go home so they can park the cars and toss the keys.  First stop, the horse barn, then we saw pigs, and roosters, and cows and sheep and even a rabbit jumping competition.  We were lucky enough to enjoy and devour the world renown GIANT cream puffs and we got some cotton candy, my favorite.  Next stop, Miller park, home of the Milwaukee Brewers.  We were able to watch them get soundly beat by the San Francisco Giants, but we were just happy to be there.

-Josie adores horses and was loving petting these beauties.
