Olympic Triathlon

I did it! I did it! I did it! I can officially say that I have completed an Olympic distance triathlon. We got up at 4:00 am June 11th to drive out to Moses Lake so I could willingly swim 1 mile, bike 25 miles and run 6.2 miles as fast as I could. It went great! My finishing time was 2 hrs. and 39 minutes. Break down: Swim 26 minutes, Bike 1hr. 14 min, and Run 54 minutes. I would certainly do some things differently next time, but overall I was really happy with my time and execution. I actually finished 4th in my age group, so you won't hear any complaining from me. Beware...lots of pictures.

I am not gonna lie, I was very glad to finish. My time is 10 minutes less then you can see because the women start 10 minutes after the men.

Josie goes to the dentist

I noticed the other day that Josie's front right tooth was starting to discolor. I watched it for a few days and panicked. So I made an appointment with our dentist and talked to all the dentists we know (we have something like 9 in our ward.) No one could tell me for sure what the outcome would be, but I was getting really nervous. Fortunately the opinion that really counts is Dr. Child's and he took a look and took an x-ray and said he thought it would be fine. He assured me it would not turn black or need to be pulled. What a relief. In the mean time, Josie went to the dentist for her 1st time and had her teeth cleaned and opened her mouth and did everything they asked her. I was a very proud Mom. Now if we could just keep Josie on her feet. She is constantly banging her face on something, or her toe, or her elbow or her whole body is on the floor. Good thing she is tough, I just hope she doesn't break something and that her teeth hold out.

Memorial Day Weekend

We had a fun filled memorial day weekend. Kevin and I were able to go see Wicked. We have had our tickets for an entire year, so it was great to finally get to go. We had fabulous seats, front row very middle balcony. We felt like the cast was a little better when we saw it in Chicago a few years back, but nothing to complain about, an amazing production!

The next morning I was able to do a mock Olympic triathalon and it went great! The water was only 58 degrees, but thank heaven for those lovely wet suits! I think I am ready for the real thing.

That evening Kevin and the kids popped us up some yummy kettle corn on the grill and we had a fun family movie night.

After church on Sunday we quickly packed us up a picnic dinner and headed to the river to check out the crazy spring run off. Lot's of fun pictures coming up.

Eating our dinner between raindrops

The hanging bridge at Bowl and Pitcher

This was a little too close for Josie-the water was loud and was spraying a mist that she wasn't really happy about.

The sucking goat-we finished our afternoon fun by feeding the goat our garbage. You push this button and it turns on a vacuum and it inhales whatever you put in front of the nose. Who wouldn't love this??

Last but not least, we finished out weekend off with inviting some friends over on Monday evening after some hard work in the yard. We enjoyed smores and a hot dog roast in the back yard. Again we were eating between raindrops, but everyone had a great time.

Funny how you can go with out taking a picture for weeks then suddenly it is overload.

What's that Josie?

Josie is in that precious stage when her vocabulary is expanding, but she still mixes the words up all cute and fun. Some of my favorites are: Smashmallows = marshmallows, Sister Hamburger =Sister Nibarger (her primary teacher,) wagon=flag, and scibbie = scab or I have a bleed! I want my hair round and round = a braid. She is definitely the bad word policeman at our house. If you say anything remotely not nice she will always call you on it. She remembers everything...sometimes not a good thing. Today we were talking and she was telling me something Conor did and she said "he knew better didn't he Mommy?" She is of course very chatty and is so excited to tell Conor and Daddy about our day at the dinner table. Josie is also my most excellent helper in the kitchen, she loves to keep me company while I bake and she always gets out all the ingredients and then dumps in everything I measure out.

Spring Soccer 2011

Spring soccer has come and is almost gone. We have a 3 game tournament this weekend and then adios soccer for a few months. Here are a few pictures to highlight the fun. Conor has come a very long ways this year. He has really decided to be part of the game and he can be scrappy. His favorite position to play is goalie, and he was delighted when this year they were given the opportunity to be goalie for some of the game and he loves it.
