I can't belive he is 8!

My 1st born is turning 8! Can you believe it? I remember the day he was born and I never imagined that he would be 8 in the flash of an eye. Time goes by so quickly. We are looking forward to his baptism on his actual birthday which will make it extra special. Hope to see you all there.

The rice cereal battle

As you can see Lincoln is very wary of the incoming spoon
Of course there is more on his face then in his mouth. Each bite that goes down has been in and out of his mouth at least 3 times.
Me, pretending that force feeding cereal is so much fun
It is time to start rice cereal at out house. Yuck. Yuck for me and probably yuck for Lincoln. Honestly Lincoln hasn't been all that excited about it. He still has that tongue thrust going on and he is AWFUL at holding still. He is looking anywhere but at the incoming food. So fun, in the ear, eyes chin etc...I am only torturing us with this once a day, and it is hit or miss, literally. Maybe we will try something more tasty next to see if it will keep his attention. Oh why oh why can't they stay little??? Well, at least he doesn't stomp off to school shoeless-Conor of course will take care of that for him.

Some more ski fun

We were able to squeeze in a day of skiing up at Red Mountain,
in British Columbia, with the girls. We had some scheduling issues,
and almost didn't make it, but I am so glad we went.
They have some really great tree runs up at Red. I think
this is actually called jumbo trees.
I got a little bit brave and tried out a few jumps, I even landed this one.
Just happy to be out enjoying the snow

A visit from Grandma Nielsen

Grandma and Lincoln
Conor, Grandma, Lincoln and Josie

and sunglasses. The Cinderella dress just wouldn't fit.

Grandma Nielsen came to visit! She got on a plane and came out to see us all by herself, we were so lucky! She wanted to spend time with the kids so that is what we did. We had a very low key relaxed weekend and it was so fun to just enjoy her company.

Couples party

The Bastians & The Bothwells
The Pawluks and the Wards -not pictured, the Willards
Don with his hockey smile and picture.
The fun you can have with a few friends and no demanding children! We had a no kids allowed party and had a blast. It is amazing the things you learn about your friends when you can actually sit and hang out with them uninterrupted.

Dress up?

Cool Lincoln in Josie's sunglasses
Josie's pretty princess crown

Josie has discovered a new doll at our house! Lincoln. Fortunately he is a very good sport and puts up very little fuss.

Another Snow day!

The kids walking back from the neighbors

Digging for the lost sled

Last Thursday we had another snow day! We got about a foot of snow overnight so the roads were a mess the next morning. Of course this is Spokane snow removal we are talking about so even if we got 3 inches the roads would still be a mess. Spokane has no concept of snow removal. Unfortunately the kids didn't spend all that much time out enjoying the snow because it was bitterly cold. We are talking 3 degrees and -14 at night. The only good thing that came out of the bone chilling cold is that I refused to let Josie out in a sweatshirt and sweatpants so she cried and cried and finally put on the coat and snow pants. Low and behold she survived and even enjoyed herself. This is the first time this year she has put on a coat. Honestly...I sometimes want to throw her out the door naked. Please tell me this will pass. Conor surprised me and offered to take Josie over to play with him and the neighbor kids. Josie was in heaven, he pushed her to and from on the sled.
