1st stop Waimea canyon. We drove all the way to the very end and then hiked in as far as we could to get a birds eye view of the Napali coast.
Here is a portion of the hike that takes you across the vista. We went ahead of Mom and Dad and ended up doing some fun scrambling. They were great sports and went at their own speed and we would double back on them, once we got to our destination. We found the view to be better about the middle of the hike then all the way at the end, but we still saw some beautiful sites. Kevin in front of the Waimea canyon. This canyon is called the grand canyon of Hawaii. It was impressive. Our helicopter had suggested a look out a little farther up the road then the standard tourist lookout. He was right.
The panoramic of the canyon-Kevin did a little scrambling to get this pictureI included this picture to document the dirt road we weren't suppose to take the rental car on. I am pretty sure we weren't suppose to let Kevin drive the way he did either, but we sure got in and out a lot quicker then a lot of slower/cautious driver. We are on our way out to the Polihale state park. The scenery included a lot of really pretty farm land, which is always fun to see.
Polihale state park! a 7 mile stretch of one of the prettiest beaches I have ever seen. So smooth, and it just went on forever. Because of the time of year the surf was pounding and there was hardly anyone there. Locals come out and camp here and the boys bring their big trucks and race across the sand. I would love to spend a day here with my family.
