Oregon Coast Day 5

Day 5 we headed to Devil's punch bowl. I think this was probably my favorite tide pool location. We had some difficulty locating it. We parked and started walking left down the beach and we should have skirted up above the beach then right. Found it though and spent a long time exploring the tide pools. Funny enough we ran into someone there who we connected to a mutual good friend. Small world. After some fun exploration we headed to Yaquina Head light house. Strike 2 for us on light houses. We arrived on the only day of the week that it is closed to the public. We at least got to walk around it and see the view. After the light house we had plenty of time so we headed to the Oregon Coast Aquarium. We really enjoyed the displays, but honestly the kids were more interested in the beach and real tide pools, so we didn't stay all that long. After all that we still had time for a quick jaunt to the beach for some kite flying.  For memory sake we also came across this playground that had the longest side we had ever seen so we let the kids get out and take a few slides.  (no picture)
Enough starfish for 2 here

Sea cave-if you look way in the back you can see the ocean through that pin prick of light

My favorite picture of the starfish and anemone

View from inside the punchbowl looking out-low tide allows you to get right inside

Another inside looking out shot

Josie showing me some neat discovery

The whole gang inside the punchbowl-getting the kids to stop exploring long enough to take this picture was torture

This starfish was a different variety that we didn't see many of

Yaquina Head Lighthouse

The man made tide pool in the aquarium

One of my favorite displays-love the reflection of her face in this picture.  These jelly fish were really cool.  I also liked the giant Japanese spider crabs.  They were small monsters-something like 12 feet leg spans.  CREEEPY

The super cool shark tunnel

Josie helping get the kite in the air.  This was by far the windiest day yet.  You really had to hang on to the kites-I think this might have been the day that I actually got a nice rope burn on my face from the whipping kite.
