Oregon Coast-Day 7

We decided to stay one more night in Florence because we really wanted to spend more time on the dunes and try some sand boarding. The weather turned out a little dreary and cold but we knew it would burn off later so we headed off to the beach again to do some beach combing. We walked a ways down where the off road vehicles are allowed on the beach, so Lincoln drove his cars in the neat tracks in the sand.

We then went and rented some sand boards to try our luck on the dunes. It took is a while to figure it out. After we were finally introduced to wax on the board we picked it up. It was fun, but a little hard to control. Kevin was really good at it and did it on his first try. Conor and I finally picked it up. The hardest part was having to walk all the way back up the hill. Sometimes Lincoln would end up at the bottom too and you would have to run him and the board up-what a workout. I was exhausted. Walking up sand is a killer. Lincoln and Josie entertained themselves by rolling in the sand or swimming I should say. We all had sand in our ears and hair...fun stuff. After we were all too hot and tired to board anymore we headed to the beach for some sand castle making and beach wandering, Ironically we tried to fly the kites but there wasn't enough wind, the day before there was too much.

In our beach wandering today we found a bonus surprise. Conor, Kevin and Josie walked right into a seal, they really stumbled right across it. He was sunning himself and didn't mind us looking at him as long as we didn't get too close. The kids were so excited!

As the sun started to set it was time to head back to camp for some dinner, shell sorting and some fun camp fire and s'more making. What a great finish to a fun trip. We had to get up early the next day and head on back to real life in Spokane. Farewell Oregon coast, thanks for the great memories!

Just had to take a picture of where we spent so much time

Don't you want to give him a big kiss?

Josie really wanted to try the boarding so I decided to try and ride it like a sled.  It worked, but we were covered in sand, Lincoln even got on once.
