Oregon Coast Day 1

Instead of going on our annual Lake Powell trip this year we decided to stick a little closer to home and explore our own backyard-well Oregon's backyard.   We were skeptical on how much fun we would have, but decided to try it out. When all was said and done we loved our trip! Wouldn’t change a thing about it.

Grandma and Grandpa Nielsen agreed to accompany us on our journey. They met us in Stevenson, Washington and had the RV/motor home waiting for our arrival. We stayed in the Timberlake campground our 1st 2 nights.  Don't even get me started on the charge for showering, but it was a good location to see the Columbia River Gorge and head out to see the waterfalls.

Josie, Conor and Lincoln thought that living in a motor home for a week was so cool.  They might have been happy if we just parked in front of our house and let them live in it.  They never minded the tight quarters.  Made the adventure that much more fun.

Lincoln touching every button he could reach
1st stop Multnomah falls
Looking down over the bottom half of Multnomah falls
Crown point over look -view of the Columbia River Gorge from Vista House
Shepperds Dell-I think this was my favorite waterfall of the day.  You couldn't see it from the road and you actually hiked down instead of up to get to it, so there was no one there  Very quaint and  pretty.
Bridal Veil Falls
Conor hiking around at the bottom of Bridal Veil Falls
Wahkeena falls-you could walk right up next to this one one on the paved trail and Lincoln was a little nervous with the roar of the water
Josie and Conor in front of Wahkeena falls
Oneonta Gorge-Only Conor and Kevin got to experience this pretty view.  The rest of us stayed behind as the going was treacherous and Lincoln zonked in the car for a little shut eye.
Horsetail Falls
Ponytail Falls-See all of us down behind the waterfall next to Grandma in the pink shirt-This was really fun to walk behind the water.  The kids loved it!
The beautiful view looking out from behind ponytail falls
Elowah Falls - This was the final and probably longest hike of the day.  We were walked out by the time we finished this hike.  The water was falling from such a great height and the flow was low, so it was neat to watch the wind actually blow the waterfall and change the direction of the falls.
Elowah Falls
The first of many creatures Conor would chase and hold on this vacation-He caught himself a little frog in this picture

I think my favorite is the one of Lincoln in the drivers seat and the commentary about parking the thing in front of your home and the kids would still have been thrilled - that's SO my kids. :)

I'm glad you got to enjoy all of the falls. I'd love to go back and check out that gorge!
